Hotel history
The hotel is located in the oldest part of the town of Písek in Burketova Street, which is named after Ladislav Burket, co-founder and first director of the forestry schools in Písek. The hotel building was built in 1900. The house was built by Karel Štětina, who later sold it to Mr. Ladislav Matějka, a Písek butcher who owned several butcher shops in the town of Písek. In addition to the butcher's shop, Mr. Matějka also had a restaurant called U Kozla in the house, and the first bowling alley in the yard was the first in the town. After World War II, the house was confiscated by the state, which operated the OVS (district military administration). After 1989, the house was returned to Mr. Matějka's son, from whom the current owner, Ladislav Marek, rented it in 1990 and subsequently bought it back. In 1990-1994, he renovated the house after the soldiers and built a legendary disco bar. Subsequently, a guesthouse was built in part of the house and then the remaining spaces were renovated for a hotel.
